Contract pressing Neudorf Olives

Contract pressing

My name is Susan and I do the pressing on our grove in Upper Moutere. I am passionate about making Extra Virgin Olive Oil and will do my utmost to produce the best oil possible from your olives.

We first took delivery of our Olive Press in 2008. Initially we only pressed our own olives, but due to demand, we have started to offer contract pressing on a limited basis to small groves. If you are considering using Neudorf Olives to press for you, I would encourage you to contact me as soon as possible to see if I have availability. I know that the other small operator in the area is reducing his service, but unfortunately I won’t have the time to offer all his previous clients a pressing service.

Timing is crucial as to whether I am able to press your olives. When our olives are ready for harvesting, I stop contract pressing and concentrate on our own olives. Being high in the Moutere Hills, our olives tend to ripen later than most so I usually have time to do limited volumes of pressing for customers. Early to mid June is usually free, but later dates may clash with our own olives ripening and I would urge you to look elsewhere.

We first took delivery of our Olive Press in 2008. Initially we only pressed our own olives, but due to demand, we have started to offer contract pressing on a limited basis to small groves.

We have an Oliomio 100kg per hour press. This is a centrifugal press and we only produce Extra Virgin Olive Oil. (We have our own oils certified by Olives NZ each year, confirming their Extra Virgin status.) We are registered with the Ministry of Primary Industries under their National Programme 3.

We now offer a pressing service which is a little different from the other presses in our area… we have chosen not to combine smaller batches of olives from different customers, which would simplify the pressing process and keep costs down. (If you have large volumes of fruit, the larger presses will be able to press single estate batches at a cheaper rate, so I would urge you to look into these alternatives.)

With smaller volumes, we will keep your olives as individual batches. The advantage of this being, if you bring in quality oil producing olives, freshly harvested, you will get good volumes of high quality oil, however, if your oil has seen a delay from harvest to pressing, the olives are unripe/over ripe or not varieties specifically grown for oil, your volumes and quality will be adversely affected. Either way, whatever you bring me will determine the quality and volume of oil you take away. The disadvantage of this system is that the pressing will take longer and will therefore cost more than elsewhere.

Your fruit must be free of leaves before I can press it. You can choose to leaf blow your fruit before or after you bring me your olives. There will be a small cost for this service if you use our equipment. If you do the leaf blowing yourself, using our leaf blower, it will cost $0.05/ kg or $0.15/kg if you want me to do it for you.
