We recently completed our 2013 harvest and pressing of the olives. As a complete contrast to 2012,when we had very little fruit, so very small amounts of oil, this year we had lots of fruit which has produced good volumes of delicious oil from all 3 varieties. The oil is sitting in tanks at the moment and will be bottled next month after it has had time to settle. We are about to start pruning the trees, many of which need significant ‘haircuts’ as we weren’t able to reach the fruit on the higher branches. When we have a spare moment, we will continue the various projects on the go around the property… a proper lawn in front of the house, steps down from the lawn leading through the olive trees to the lake at the bottom of the grove, and a rather ambitious terraced vegetable garden at the side of the house. Never a dull moment! We are open for tastings by appointment at this time of year, but will keep more predictable hours over the summer.
We have added a new bottle size to our existing range. We now sell extra virgin olive oil in 190ml, 375ml and 750 ml sizes. We have found the new 190ml size has worked well as both a suitable gift and a condiment for the dinner table.
Wishing all our friends and customers well, until next time… Susan.
